Cruz Vargas was born in 1983 in Oaxaca, Mexico. His background in visual arts has led him through an exploration of a wide range of techniques including collage, printing, sculpture, video, photography and painting.
Through diligent work and discipline, Cruz Vargas pursues constant improvement of his projects, on each occasion surprising the observer and the collaborator. Cruz Vargas’ work challenges identity (using skulls and a lack of details on faces), transience (understood as the character of the ephemeral) and death (a central theme in Mexican culture). Currently, he works out of the cities of Brussels, Oaxaca and Guadalajara, in the latter of which he launched ArtStudio, which periodically exhibited projects by different artists.
He has presented his work individually in different cities in Mexico must notably: “Cruz y Ficciones”, a multidicipline proyect, as well as the video project “Ser-aquí” at Museo de los Pintores Oaxaqueños. He has also presented his work internationally in Germany, Spain, Finland, Portugal and the United States.
